Associated Diseases (KEGG IDs)A chromosomal aberration involving MYC may be a cause of a form of B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Translocation t(8;12)(q24;q22) with BTG1. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:2069907}.; Burkitt lymphoma (BL) [MIM:113970]: A form of undifferentiated malignant lymphoma commonly manifested as a large osteolytic lesion in the jaw or as an abdominal mass. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:2166998, ECO:0000269|PubMed:8220424}. The gene represented in this entry is involved in disease pathogenesis. Chromosomal aberrations involving MYC are usually found in Burkitt lymphoma. Translocations t(8;14), t(8;22) or t(2;8) which juxtapose MYC to one of the heavy or light chain immunoglobulin gene loci.
General Description of c-myc .
This antibody recognizes an epitope located in the amino acid residue 410-419 of human oncogene product c-myc. This antibody reacts with both components of the p62 and p64 c-myc.

c-myc Information for Pathologists

Summary:

Proto-oncogene at 8q24.1 produces short lived nuclear phosphoprotein. Overexpressed by t(8;14)(q24;q32.3), t(8;22);(q24;11) and t(2;8);(p11-12;q24), which translocate c-myc gene next to immunoglobulin genes in Burkitt’s lymphoma. Gene expressed in virtually all eukaryotic cells; expression usually tightly controlled. Immediate early growth response gene; rapidly induced when quiescent cells receive a signal to divide; required for cells to enter S phase.

Limitations and Warranty

This antibody is manufactured in accordance with clinical good manufacturing practices in an ISO13485:2016 certified production facility. It is intended for multiple uses including in vitro diagnostic use and research use only applications. Please see vial label for expiration date. We strive to always deliver antibodies with a shelf life of at least two years.
