Summary:
CD1a is a T cell surface antigen found on subsets of normal T cells. It is important in antigen presentation to dendritic cells, particularly glycolipids and lipopeptide antigens that traffic through early endocytic pathways. CD1a is also referred to as Leu6.Common Uses By Pathologists:
CD1a immunostaining is used to diagnose Langerhans cell histiocytosis and to exclude other entities that are CD1a negative. It is also a useful means of identifying Langerhans cells in inflammatory or neoplastic disorders.Limitations and Warranty
