General Description of GCDFP-15.
This MAb recognizes a protein of 15kDa, identified as Gross cystic disease fluid protein 15 (GCDFP-15). It is a major protein component of benign breast gross cysts. It is a known marker of breast cancer, as it is found in approximately 50% of all breast cancer specimens. GCDFP-15, also known as PIP, for prolactin inducible protein, is a prolactin and androgen controlled protein. This antibody is useful in the identification of metastatic breast carcinoma, or fluid analysis.

GCDFP-15 Previously Observed Antibody Staining Patterns

Observed Antibody Staining Data By Tissue Type:

Variations in GCDFP-15 antibody staining intensity in immunohistochemistry on tissue sections are present across different anatomical locations. An intense signal was observed in glandular cells in the salivary gland. More moderate antibody staining intensity was present in glandular cells in the salivary gland. Low, but measureable presence of GCDFP-15 could be seen inglandular cells in the seminal vesicle. We were unable to detect GCDFP-15 in other tissues. Disease states, inflammation, and other physiological changes can have a substantial impact on antibody staining patterns. These measurements were all taken in tissues deemed normal or from patients without known disease.
