Summary:
OCT-4 (also Octamer-binding transcription factor 4) is an 18 kDa transription factor encoded by POU5F1. It is considered the master gene in pluripotency and embryonic stem cell regulation. It regulates self-renewal and differentiation of embryonic stem cells, include germ cells.Common Uses By Pathologists:
OCT-4 is a Nuclear stain. It is highly sensitive and specific for primary intracranial germinomas which may be benign or malignant. Positive staining for OCT-4 is generally related to poor prognostis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and possibly in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).Limitations and Warranty
