Please run positive and negative controls simultaneously with all patient samples to account and control for errors in laboratory procedure. Summary:
Thyroid peroxidase (TPO) is an enzyme involved in TH synthesis. It is expressed on the apical surface of thyroid folliular cells.Common Uses By Pathologists:
Malignant thyroid tumors exhibit an anomaly in TPO resulting in lower affinity for anti-TPO. TPO staining may help differentiate between benign and malignant thyroid tumors. TPO staining is also useful for classification of solitary cold thyroid nodules in FNA cytology samples.Limitations and Warranty
