General Description of Recombinant Human BMP-2 Protein.
Bone morphogenic protein 2 (BMP2) is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family and functions as a potent inducer of bone and cartilage development. BMP proteins are synthesized as large precursor molecules which are cleaved by proteolytic enzymes. Active BMP2 consists of forming a homodimer or a heterodimer with a related BMP, such as BMP7. BMP2 signals through type I and type II receptor tyrosine kinases in conjuction with SMAD proteins to directly promote osteoblast differentiation. BMP2 is also important during cardiac development and supports epicardial cell migration. It may be etiologically linked to duseases such as fibrodysplasia (myositis) ossificans progressiva.

Human BMP-2 Bioactive Protein Product Attributes

Product Type: Bioactive Protein
Recombinant BMP-2 based upon sequence from: Human
Host: QP5363 protein expressed in E. coli or HEK293 cells (make selection above to chose the host of the protein).
Tag: Untagged
Recommended Applications: Bioactive
Application Notes: Please contact us for application specific information for QP5363.
Bioactivity Data: BioActivity: E. coli synthesized BMP-2 shows bioactivity at a concentration of 250 ng/mL in the Alkaline phosphatase activity induced in ATDC-5 cells assay. The bioactivity acceptance criteria is set at 4 x 10^3 units/mg. The more potent HEK293 derived BMP2 has a specific activity of less than 40 ng/ml in ATDC-5 cell induced alk phos activity.
Monomer or Dimer:Glycosylated Homodimer
Purity: Greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Reconstitution Instructions: We recommend reconstitution of human BMP-2 in sterile 4mM HCl containing 0.1% endotoxin-free recombinant HSA.
Concentration of Human BMP-2 Protein: Lyophilized. Concentration determined by reconstitution volume.
Endotoxin Levels: Less than or equal to 1.00 EUs/ug as determined by the LAL method.
Buffer: Lyophilized from a sterile filtered (0.22 um) 2x PBS solution.
Storage Conditions: Store at -20C to -80C lyophilized. Guaranteed for 1 year at -80C reconstituted and 3 months at 4C reconstituted.

Limitations and Performance Guarantee

This is a life science research product (for Research Use Only). This product is guaranteed to work for a period of two years when stored at -70C or colder, and one year when aliquoted and stored at -20C.
