Antibody (Suitable for clinical applications)
Specification | Recommendation |
---|---|
Recommended Dilution (Conc) | 1:10-1:25 |
Pretreatment | Citrate Buffer pH 6.0 |
Incubation Parameters | 30 min at Room Temperature |
Prior to use, inspect vial for the presence of any precipitate or other unusual physical properties. These can indicate that the antibody has degraded and is no longer suitable for patient samples. Please run positive and negative controls simultaneously with all patient samples to account and control for errors in laboratory procedure. Use of methods or materials not recommended by enQuire Bio including change to dilution range and detection system should be routinely validated by the user.
Amyloid A Component Information for Pathologists
Summary:
Acute phase protein, which has diagnostic, therapeutic and prognostic implications in a wide variety of diseases. First recognized in serum with its cross reactivity with antisera to amyloid AA of secondary amyloid; both proteins have precursor / product relationship. Synthesized in liver.
Common Uses By Pathologists:
Circulating SAA is associated with prognosis in osteosarcoma patients (Pediatr Blood Cancer 2017 May 24 [Epub ahead of print]). Serum level of SAA is upregulated in glioblastoma (J Neurooncol 2017;132:383). SAA staining is fairly specific for sarcoidosis (Respir Med 2017;126:1). It is associated with earlier stages of chronic hepatitis (Histopathology 2016;69:937) and can be used in combination with other markers to classify hepatocellular adenoma into groups (Front Med (Lausanne) 2017;4:10).

Associated Diseases (KEGG IDs) | Reactive, secondary amyloidosis is characterized by the extracellular accumulation in various tissues of the SAA1 protein. These deposits are highly insoluble and resistant to proteolysis; they disrupt tissue structure and compromise function. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:1463770}.; Elevated serum SAA1 protein levels may be associated with lung cancer. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:1463770}. |
General Description of Amyloid A Component . | |
This antibody reacts with amyloid deposits in all organs and tissues. It reacts specifically with amyloid A protein in the native fibrils as well as fixed fibrils but does not show any reactivity with non-amyloid A fibril protein. |
