Variations in Arginase 1 antibody staining intensity in immunohistochemistry on tissue sections are present across different anatomical locations. An intense signal was observed in hepatocytes in liver. More moderate antibody staining intensity was present in hepatocytes in liver. Low, but measureable presence of Arginase 1 could be seen inhematopoietic cells in the bone marrow. We were unable to detect Arginase 1 in other tissues. Disease states, inflammation, and other physiological changes can have a substantial impact on antibody staining patterns. These measurements were all taken in tissues deemed normal or from patients without known disease.

General Description of Arginase 1. | |
Recognizes a protein of 35-38kDa, which is identified as Arginase 1 (ARG1). Arginase is a manganese metallo-enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of arginine to generate ornithine, urea. Arginase I, II are isoenzymes, which differ in subcellular localization, regulation,, possibly function. Arginase I is a cytosolic enzyme, which is expressed mainly in the liver as part of the urea cycle, whereas arginase II is a mitochondrial protein found in a variety of tissues. Antibody to ARG-1 labels hepatocytes in normal tissues, granulocytes in peripheral blood. ARG-1 is a sensitive, specific marker for identification of hepatocellular carcinoma. |
