Human Anti-Caldesmon, HMW Antibody Product Attributes
Caldesmon, HMW Previously Observed Antibody Staining Patterns
Observed Subcellular, Organelle Specific Staining Data:
Anti-CALD1 antibody staining is expected to be primarily localized to the actin filaments and plasma membrane.
Observed Antibody Staining Data By Tissue Type:
Variations in Caldesmon, HMW antibody staining intensity in immunohistochemistry on tissue sections are present across different anatomical locations. An intense signal was observed in cells in the endometrial stroma in endometrium, decidual cells in the placenta, ovarian stroma cells in the ovary and smooth muscle cells in the smooth muscle. More moderate antibody staining intensity was present in cells in the endometrial stroma in endometrium, decidual cells in the placenta, ovarian stroma cells in the ovary and smooth muscle cells in the smooth muscle. Low, but measureable presence of Caldesmon, HMW could be seen inadipocytes in breast, cells in the seminiferous ducts in testis, cells in the tubules in kidney, fibroblasts in mesenchymal tissue, glandular cells in the breast, endometrium, epididymis, prostate, salivary gland and stomach, hepatocytes in liver, islets of Langerhans in pancreas, Leydig cells in the testis, macrophages in lung, pneumocytes in lung, squamous epithelial cells in the cervix and uterine, oral mucosa and tonsil. We were unable to detect Caldesmon, HMW in other tissues. Disease states, inflammation, and other physiological changes can have a substantial impact on antibody staining patterns. These measurements were all taken in tissues deemed normal or from patients without known disease.

General Description of Caldesmon, HMW. | |
Recognizes a protein of 150kDa, which is identified as the high molecular weight variant of Caldesmon. Two closely related variants of human caldesmon have been identified which are different in their electrophoretic mobility, cellular distribution. The h-caldesmon variant (120-150kDa) is predominantly expressed in smooth muscle whereas l-caldesmon (70-80kDa) is found in non- muscle tissue, cells. Neither of the two variants has been detected in skeletal muscle. This MAb recognizes only the 150kDa variant (h-caldesmon) in Western blots of human aortic media extracts, is unreactive with fibroblast extracts from cultivated human foreskin. Caldesmon is a developmentally regulated protein involved in smooth muscle, non-muscle contraction. |
