750 Amino acid, 100 KDa, type II membrane glycoprotein with both folate hydrolase and N-acetylated-alpha-linked-acidic peptidase (NAALAD) activity. Assists with folate uptake and modulates excitatory neurotransmissions in brain. In contrast to PSA, upregulated with androgen deprivation (Rev Urol 2004;6:S13). Common Uses By Pathologists:

Serum PSMA: detected in serum by RT-PCR, but its role in prostatic carcinoma screening is controversial (Prostate 1998;36:181, Clin Cancer Res 1999;5:4034). Tissue PSMA:. Expressed in high grade prostatic adenocarcinoma, in contrast to PSA. PSMA / PSA ratio by IHC. Almost equal in normal prostate.

General Description of Prostate Specific Membrane Antigen .
PSMA is a 750 amino acid type II membrane glycoprotein. PSMA is expressed in normal and malignant prostatic epithelium and in a subset of non-prostatic tissues. PSMA expression has been shown to correlate with the progression of prostate cancer, with highest levels expressed in hormone-refractory and metastatic disease. PSMA expresses in the neovasculature of a variety of non-prostatic solid tumors.

This antibody is manufactured in accordance with clinical good manufacturing practices in an ISO13485:2016 certified production facility.
