General Description of Cytokeratin 10.
This MAb recognizes a protein of 56.5kDa, identified as cytokeratin 10 (CK10). CK10 is expressed in all suprabasal layers of the epidermis. In the epidermis, expression of CK10 strictly parallels the extent of differentiation; it is absent in the basal layer, appears in the first suprabasal layers, increases in concentration towards the granular layer. However, CK10 is rarely detected in early stages of vulvar squamous carcinomas (tumors less than 2 cm, clinical stage I) regardless of the tumor grade. In larger, more advanced tumors (greater than 2 cm, clinical stages II, III), CK10 is detected very frequently. Expression of CK10 is related to maturation of malignant keratinocytes, being preferentially detected in more-differentiated parts.

Cytokeratin 10 Previously Observed Antibody Staining Patterns

Observed Antibody Staining Data By Tissue Type:

Variations in Cytokeratin 10 antibody staining intensity in immunohistochemistry on tissue sections are present across different anatomical locations. An intense signal was observed in epidermal cells in the skin and keratinocytes in skin. More moderate antibody staining intensity was present in epidermal cells in the skin and keratinocytes in skin. Low, but measureable presence of Cytokeratin 10 could be seen in. We were unable to detect Cytokeratin 10 in other tissues. Disease states, inflammation, and other physiological changes can have a substantial impact on antibody staining patterns. These measurements were all taken in tissues deemed normal or from patients without known disease.
