Perforin Information for Pathologists
Summary:Perforin is the pore-forming protein that drives osmotic lysis of target cells enables granzymes to enter the target cells and activate apoptosis. The expression of perforin is primarily upregulated in activated cytotoxic cells such as CD8+ T-cells and NK cells but is also found in some populations of CD4+ T-cells.
