Antibody (Suitable for clinical applications)
Specification | Recommendation |
---|---|
Recommended Dilution (Conc) | 1:25-1:50 |
Pretreatment | Citrate Buffer pH 6.0 |
Incubation Parameters | 30 min at Room Temperature |
Prior to use, inspect vial for the presence of any precipitate or other unusual physical properties. These can indicate that the antibody has degraded and is no longer suitable for patient samples. Please run positive and negative controls simultaneously with all patient samples to account and control for errors in laboratory procedure. Use of methods or materials not recommended by enQuire Bio including change to dilution range and detection system should be routinely validated by the user.
4-Oct Information for Pathologists
Summary:
OCT-4 (also Octamer-binding transcription factor 4) is an 18 kDa transription factor encoded by POU5F1. It is considered the master gene in pluripotency and embryonic stem cell regulation. It regulates self-renewal and differentiation of embryonic stem cells, include germ cells.
Common Uses By Pathologists:
OCT-4 is a Nuclear stain. It is highly sensitive and specific for primary intracranial germinomas which may be benign or malignant. Positive staining for OCT-4 is generally related to poor prognostis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and possibly in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

General Description of OCT-4 . | |
OCT-4 (also known as POU5F1) is a transcription factor that has been recognized as fundamental in the maintenance of pluripotency in embryonic stem cells and primordial germ cells. It has been proposed as a useful marker for germ cell tumors (GCT) that exhibit features of pluripotentiality (seminoma/dysgerminoma, germinoma and embryonal carcinoma. OCT-4 immunostaining has been shown to be sensitive and specific for GCT, whether in primary gonadal or extragonadal sites or in metastatic lesions. |
