Specification | Recommendation |
---|---|
Recommended Dilution (Conc) | 1:25-1:100 |
Pretreatment | No Pretreatment Required |
Incubation Parameters | 30 min at Room Temperature |
Prior to use, inspect vial for the presence of any precipitate or other unusual physical properties. These can indicate that the antibody has degraded and is no longer suitable for patient samples. Please run positive and negative controls simultaneously with all patient samples to account and control for errors in laboratory procedure. Use of methods or materials not recommended by enQuire Bio including change to dilution range and detection system should be routinely validated by the user.
Prostatic Acid Phosphatase Information for Pathologists
Summary:
Prostatic acid phosphatase (PAP), also prostatic specific acid phosphatase (PSAP), is enzyme produced by prostate tissue. Acid phosphatases release phosphate groups, optimally at acid pH. May promote HIV infection. Naturally occurring fragments form amyloid fibrils (Semen-derived Enhancer of Virus Infection), capture HIV virions and promote their attachment to target cells (Cell 2007;131:1059). Uses by pathologists
Common Uses By Pathologists:
Identifies prostatic origin of metastases (whose primary is PAP+), including bone metastases (Ann NY Acad Sci 2011;1237). Differentiates between prostatic and urothelial carcinomas. Differentiates between prostatic adenocarcinoma and mesonephric remnant hyperplasia (Ann Diagn Pathol 2009;13:402). Presence is presumptive test for semen in forensic studies.
