Human bFGF / FGF2 Bioactive Protein Product Attributes
Product Type: Bioactive Protein
Recombinant bFGF / FGF2 based upon sequence from: Human
Host: QP5269 protein expressed in E. coli.
Tag: Untagged
Recommended Applications: Bioactive
Application Notes: Please contact us for application specific information for QP5269. One of the most common applications of our bFGF protein has been in stem cell culture. In stem cell culture, bFGF (along with other nutrients and growth factors) is supplemented in the range of 4-10 ng/ml for systems incorporating feeder cells (eg. HFF or HPF). In systems without feeder cells, much higher concentrations (50-100 ng/ml) of bFGF are recommended.
Bioactivity Data: BioActivity: Concentrations of <5 ng/mL are sufficient to induce cell proliferation of 3T3 cells. The bioactivity acceptance criteria is set at 2 x 105 units/mg.
Monomer or Dimer: Monomer
Amino Acid Sequence: MAAGSITTLP ALPEDGGSGA FPPGHFKDPK RLYCKNGGFF LRIHPDGRVD GVREKSDPHI KLQLQAEERG VVSIKGVCAN RYLAMKEDGR LLASKCVTDE CFFFERLESN NYNTYRSRKY TSWYVALKRT GQYKLGSKTG PGQKAILFLP MSAKS
Purity: Greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Reconstitution Instructions:
Concentration of Human bFGF / FGF2 Protein: Lyophilized. Concentration determined by reconstitution volume.
Endotoxin Levels: Less than or equal to 1.00 EUs/ug as determined by the LAL method.
Buffer: 10 mM sodium phosphate, 75 mM sodium chloride, pH 7.5

General Description of Recombinant Human bFGF / FGF2 Protein. | |
Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), also known as FGF2, is expressed by endothelial cells, has mitogenic functions, and is an important growth factor in angiogenesis. Like other members of the fibroblast growth factor family, bFGF also promotes sell survival. bFGF has cardioprotective functions. bFGF is a critical component of embryonic stem cell culture systems to maintain cells in an undifferentiated state. Recombinant bFGF is the full 154 amino acid protein encoded by the human FGF2 gene. There are no detectable differences in biological activity between the 154 and 147 amino acid forms of the proteins in most applications. The 154 AA bFGF protein is more commonly used. |
