Associated Diseases (KEGG IDs) Diabetes mellitus, insulin-dependent, 10 (IDDM10) [MIM:601942]: A multifactorial disorder of glucose homeostasis that is characterized by susceptibility to ketoacidosis in the absence of insulin therapy. Clinical features are polydipsia, polyphagia and polyuria which result from hyperglycemia-induced osmotic diuresis and secondary thirst. These derangements result in long-term complications that affect the eyes, kidneys, nerves, and blood vessels. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17676041}. Disease susceptibility is associated with variations affecting the gene represented in this entry.; Immunodeficiency 41 with lymphoproliferation and autoimmunity (IMD41) [MIM:606367]: A disorder of immune dysregulation characterized by recurrent viral, fungal, and bacterial infections, lymphadenopathy, and variable autoimmune features, such as autoimmune enteropathy and eczematous skin lesions. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:23416241, ECO:0000269|PubMed:24116927}. The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry.
General Description of CD25 .
CD25, or interleukin 2 (IL2) receptor alpha (IL2RA), and beta (IL2RB) chains, together with the common gamma chain (IL2RG), constitute the high-affinity IL2 receptor. CD25 is the alpha chain of the IL-2 receptor. It is a type I transmembrane protein present on activated T cells and activated B cells. Normally an integral-membrane protein, soluble CD25 has been isolated and determined to result from extracellular proteolysis. CD25 also appears to be a reliable immunohistochemical marker for the discrimination of neoplastic from normal/reactive mast cells, with potential as a diagnostic tool in systemic mastocytosis. CD25 is also expressed on hairy cell leukemia
